Supplementary Practices

The following practices are valuable complements to Siva Yoga. You are encouraged to explore and adopt those that resonate with your personal journey. These techniques can enrich your daily practice and deepen your experience of Siva Yoga.

For detailed guidance and step-by-step instructions, we recommend exploring the Advanced Yoga Practices (AYP) site by Yogani, which offers comprehensive insights into these methods.

Yoga Nidra

Relaxation technique given in the beginning of Siva Yoga lessons holds deep secrets. In this modern day and age, when stress and sleep deprivation has become a norm, learning Yoga Nidra and practising them regularly gives a much needed “deep reset” to our body-mind system. Yoga Nidra translates to Conscious sleep or Yogic sleep.

Maha Mudra

Mahamudra is praised in yogic texts for purifying the nadis (energy channels), balancing the doshas, and aiding in the control of the mind, thus serving as a gateway to higher states of consciousness.

Ujjayi Pranayama

Ujjayi Pranayama, often called the "Victorious Breath," is a foundational breathing technique in yoga that promotes calmness and focus. It involves gently constricting the throat to create a soft, whispering sound during inhalation and exhalation through the nose.

Moola Bandha

Moola Bandha, or the "Root Lock," is a core practice in Hatha Yoga that involves contracting the muscles at the base of the pelvis, particularly the perineum. It is used to direct pranic energy (life force) upward through the central energy channel (Sushumna Nadi), aiding in spiritual awakening and inner stability.
